Chicago Public School North Side, K-8

Chicago, IL

This 106,000 square foot proposal for the Chicago Public School Competition focuses on four major ideas; the integration of the building and the playground / garden space, a connection to the urban context, the creation of three smaller “schools-within-the-school,” and the development of “universal movement spaces” for each school. All four concepts are premised on the idea that architecture can promote interaction and communication between people, cultures, cities, and institutions. It is through this interaction that we hope to foster a dynamic, inclusive, learning environment.
